Section 1 — Problem Recognition

Does any of this sound familiar?

The same conflict resurfacing at dinner. Communication that turns into shutting down or lashing out. Wanting to feel like a family again, not just people living under one roof. You do not need the right words for it here. You only need to be willing to look at it, together.

Communication that turns into conflict Parenting challenges The same argument, resurfacing Feeling disconnected as a family Navigating a big transition Old patterns repeating across generations Wanting more cooperation at home Reacting instead of responding

A Common Question

Is family therapy only for families that are falling apart?

No. Family therapy is not only for the breaking point. It is for any family that wants to build more understanding, communication, and connection. Maybe things feel tense right now. Maybe things are okay, and you simply want healthier patterns going forward.

You do not need to have it all figured out. You only need to be willing to look at the pattern together, and start responding a little differently.

Presence, curiosity, and nonjudgment help families respond intentionally instead of reacting automatically.

Section 8 — FAQ
Common Questions

Still have questions?

What can family therapy help with?

Family therapy can help with communication challenges, parenting concerns, and family conflict. Sessions may focus on increasing emotional awareness, improving communication, setting boundaries, and strengthening problem-solving skills together.

Do you work with children, or just adults?

Both. We work with children and adults together, helping the whole family identify unhelpful cycles and build practical tools for consistency, cooperation, and connection over time.

What age children do you work with?

Our therapists work with children and adolescents alongside their families. Your first conversation with us is a good place to confirm the best fit for your child's age and your family's needs.

What if not everyone in the family wants to participate?

That is common, and it does not mean therapy cannot help. We can often start with the family members who are willing, and build from there as trust and openness grow.

What happens in our first session?

Your first session focuses on getting to know your family and understanding what brought you in, not immediate advice. Expect guided conversation about your family's dynamic and what everyone is hoping for.

What if we don't feel a connection with our therapist?

It is more common than people expect, and it does not mean something is wrong with your family. If a therapist does not feel like the right fit, say so. We will help you find someone on our team who does.

Do you take insurance?

Yes. We currently accept Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO, Cigna, and Aetna.

How much does a session cost?

Initial intake sessions range from $160 to $200 for 55 minutes. Regular sessions are $150 for 55 minutes. We also offer sliding scale options for clients who qualify, reach out to our intake team to find a pricing option that fits your needs.

How long does family therapy typically take?

It depends on what your family is working through. Some families benefit from a focused round of sessions, while others engage in longer-term work for deeper, lasting change. There is no fixed timeline.

Is virtual family therapy as effective as in-person?

Yes. Sessions are held on a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform, and virtual family therapy is available anywhere in Illinois, not just Andersonville.
